Urban Lighting

Developed at: Design Academy Eindhoven
Role: Design and Research
Team: Raphael Coutin, Fabric Architects

Project Background:

The aim of this project was to combine a reduction in lighting with a space for nature to grow and flourish in city centers. Due to the negative impact of street lighting in urbanised areas, we decided to develop a concept for lighting city spaces that reduce the lighting impact on biodiversity as well as enhancing the natural organic space found within the city centre. The lighting works as a unit, utilising collected water from the current drainage systems to create marshland, and combining this with separate dry land for a wide species range to develop.
